The Oncology Research Institute was founded in Leningrad in 1927 on the initiative of an outstanding Russian surgeon and the founder of Russian Oncology Nikolai Nikolayevich Petrov, whose name we proudly bear today. It was the first oncological research institution in Russia. It opened new clinical and scientific laboratories that had no analogues neither in the country nor in the world, developed new technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of tumor diseases.
Today, the N.N.Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology is one of the largest medical and diagnostic centers in Russia.
About 100,000 patients from different regions of Russia and the CIS countries receive inpatient and consultative – diagnostic care. This is a scientific and educational institution that is engaged in medical research in various fields of oncology.
