Alexei M. Belyaev
Director of N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology

Dr Belyaev took his position as a President of the Center in 2010.
Dr Belyaev concurrently holds the positions of Chief Freelance Oncologist of the North-Western Federal District, Head of Department of Oncology of I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University, Chair of Association of Oncologists of the North-Western Federal District.
Education:
1986 – MD with Honors and Gold Medal for Academic Excellence, S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy;
1992 – Fellowship, S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy.
Academic career and work experience:
1993 – PhD, the dissertation titled ‘Morpho-functional characteristics of soft tissues surrounding a gunshot wound’;
2004 – DSc, the dissertation titled ‘Cytoreductive surgeries and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy as part of combination therapy of prevalent forms of abdominal cancer’.
From 1992-2010 he worked in the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy, where he followed the career path starting from Chief Resident at the Department and Clinic of Naval and Hospital Surgery to the Head of the Department.
In 2004-2010 he concurrently performed as Head of the Oncology Department of the I.I. Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Care and stayed at the lead of the Department of Emergency Oncology.
From 2010 to the present, Dr Belyaev occupies a position of the Director of N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology.
Since 1997 Dr Belyaev has been working on the issues of proving care to patients with advanced peritoneal cancer. He was a pioneer of cytoreductive surgeries combined with continuous hyperthermic peritoneal perfusion chemotherapy in Russia. He has been involved in setting up emergency and palliative care for cancer patients.
Awards:
He was awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Russian Health and Social Development Ministry, the Excellent Worker of Public Health Badge, the Medal for Merits to the National Health Care, an honorary badge for Merit to St. Petersburg. He was awarded a commendation from the Chair of the Federation Council and the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
Publications:
He is the author of more than 340 peer-reviewed papers, author and co-author of 15 monographs, 6 clinical guidelines, and 19 inventions. He played a role of an advisor for 10 PhD and 3 DSc dissertations.
Andrei P. Karitskiy

Education:

1993 – Fellowship, S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy, Department of Naval and Hospital Surgery.
Academic career and work experience:
From 1987 to 1990, Dr Karitskiy served as Chief Medical Officer on a Black Sea Navy Fleet submarine. In 1993, he completed his fellowship and defended the dissertation titled ‘Mallory-Weiss syndrome: its diagnosis and treatment’.
Later, he was appointed Chief Resident at the Department of Naval and Hospital Surgery, where he worked his way through from lecturer, senior lecturer, to docent. Starting as a senior lieutenant, he was eventually promoted to the rank of colonel.
In 2010, Dr Karitskiy was discharged from navy and joined the N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology as Chief Medical Officer.
Awards:
He has been honored with the Excellent Worker of Public Health Badge awarded by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Sergey S. Bagnenko

Dr Bagnenko supervises scientific units and subdivisions that perform the functions of the national medical research center.

Publications:
He is the author of more than 150 scientific and educational publications in leading Russian and international editions.
Dr Bagnenko is also a coauthor of the national guidelines ‘Radiation Diagnostics and Therapy in Gastroenterology’, the monograph ‘MRI Detection of Focal Liver Lesions’, the textbook ‘General and Military Roentgenology’, and textbooks on radiation diagnostics for medical university students (two of his publications were translated into foreign languages). The number of citations in the RSCI system – 500, the Hirsch index — 14.

Accomplishments:
Dr Kirichuk is the author of 4 inventions.
He supervised several competition winning projects held under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technology of Russian Federation, the Russian Foundation for Technological Development, and the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology, etc.
Awards:
Mr Kirichuk has been honored with decoration medals for his service in the Armed Forces of the USSR (1986-1992) and with the 70 years of Kaluga Oblast Commemorative Medal to honor his significant contributions to the development of the health care system of Kaluga Oblast (2016).

Academic career and work experience:
In 2011, Dr Ivantsov defended his PhD dissertation named ‘Morphological and immunohistochemical features of human tumors with epidermal growth factor receptor mutation’.
In 2019, he subsequently defended his DSc dissertation on ‘Clinical and morphological features of BRCA1-associated human tumors’.
Dr Ivantsov performs scientific research activities supported by grants from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Science Foundation.
Accomplishments:
Member of the St. Petersburg Society of Pathologists.
He published more than 200 scientific papers in Russian and foreign peer-reviewed journals, including 2 textbooks and 82 scientific articles.
Awards:
Dr Ivantsov was awarded a commendation from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in 2020.
