Electrocardiography
An electrocardiogram is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat. It is a graph of voltage versus time of the electrical activity of the heart that is interpreted by a physician to make a diagnosis.
Indications:
- before any surgery
- suspected heart disease, or if a patient is at higher risk of a heart disease
- to detect cardiac rhythm disorder or cardiac conduction disorder (arrhythmia or heart block)
- to detect acute myocardial ischemia
- to detect cardiovascular toxicity of antitumor agents.
