Research Interests:
Dr Imyanitov’s research popularized the use of molecular diagnosis of cancers in Russia. He supervised the study of the traits of hereditary cancer syndromes in Russia and the introduction of existing methods for detection of suitable cases.
In 2012 Dr Imyanitov headed a team of researchers that discovered the BLM gene associated with increased risk of breast cancer.
Dr Imyanitov also pursues research in molecular methods allowing to increase the clinical and economic efficiency of anti-cancer drugs.
Experience:
In 2004 Dr Imyanitov was awarded the title of “Professor”.
In 2005 he was appointed Head of the Molecular Oncology Laboratory. Since 2007 he has been Head of the Research Division of Tumor Growth Biology.
Dr Imyanitov is Head of the Department of General and Molecular Medical Genetics of the Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University. He is Professor at the Department of Oncology of the I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University.
In 2016 he was awarded the Excellent Worker of Public Health badge.
In 2017 he was awarded a medal for his services to the national healthcare system.
Dr Imyanitov was made Honored Worker of Science in 2018.
